We’ve been so busy lately that we decided to spend a night at home. After a long work week, it’s nice to spend an evening relaxing. We made dinner, watched a movie, and went to bed early.
For dinner, Joe made Stir Fry. It was amazing. Since we first eat with our eyes, we wanted to make it really colorful and beautiful. We chopped up red onion, a yellow bell pepper, a red bell pepper, and some broccoli. Everything got sautéed and then steamed. We love chicken so that is the meat we chose, but you could certainly use steak, shrimp, or pork and it would taste just as awesome. After everything was cooked, we added the rice. Alissa cooked the rice in chicken broth to add extra flavor! When it was all mixed together it was seasoned with garlic, ginger, pepper, and a pinch of salt. To top it off, we simmered it with a sauce made from soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic. The whole process only took about 45 minutes, although it felt much faster because we did it together.
When it was all done it looked great and tasted even better. We both went back for seconds. It’s going to make great leftovers for tomorrow.
The rest of the evening was just as relaxing as we had planned. We watched the movie and Alissa fell asleep half way through.

The Holidays and New Years

The holiday season is over and we are back! This was our first Christmas together. It was really hectic but it was super fun. There was that whole issue of “where we were going to spend Christmas” that a lot of couples probably have but it all worked out. For New Years, we visited our friend’s lake house in The Poconos. It was sort of like a mini vacation and it was great. We got to relax and hang out with a lot of awesome people. As you can probably tell, it has been a chaotic month or so. That is why we haven’t posted in a very long time. Now that the new year is starting we hope to keep the posts coming.

Sushi

Instead of going out
for dinner, we decided to make Sushi! It’s Italian sushi. We cooked tuna coated
in olive oil, salt, and pepper. Then, put garlic on the nori and rolled our
sushi. Of course we couldn’t dip them in soy sauce. We dipped them in oil and
vinegar. We might not be the best sushi rollers, but it was delicious!

Fall Cookies!

Joe and I were supposed to decorate cookies together, but he was super late so, I did them myself. I just made sugar cookies (butter cookies might have tasted better) and icing out of milk and confectionary sugar. Then, I added different color dyes to make fall colors! How cute are they!

Halloween

Hi everyone.
So last weekend we went to Connecticut to visit my college roommates. It was the first time I had been up there in a while and it was so awesome to see everyone again. It was also the first time Alissa got to meet all of my college friends and got to see the Quinnipiac campus. Actually, I hadn’t seen campus since graduation and it looked so different. The construction is coming along well and looks great.
As bad as weather was we still had a great time and had a pretty awesome Halloween party. I think our costumes turned out great and I would say that we had a great weekend in general.

This weekend we carved pumpkins together...or should I say we carved pug kins?

Hello!

Welcome everyone to "The Last Two Gummie Bears Left in the Bag." My name is Joe. My girlfriend Alissa and I have decided to share our experiences as a couple right here on our blog. We will talk about everything from our dates to our love of food. We will talk about some of our individual experiences and interests as well.
First off, a bit about myself. I have lived in Northwestern New Jersey my entire life and I love it here. I recently graduated from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut with a degree in journalism. I was a founding member of quadnews.net, Quinnipiac's independent newspaper. I am also a brother of Alpha Phi Omega. In my spare time, I like to play video games. I am an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan. I love combat sports including (but not limited to) MMA, amateur wrestling, pro wrestling and boxing. I study Jiu-Jitsu and have a number of years experience wrestling. However, nothing makes me happier than spending time with Alissa.
I, Alissa, have also lived in New Jersey for my whole life. We live in Hunterdon County and I could not imagine living anywhere else. I just graduated from Rider University in New Jersey with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Spanish, Education, and ESL. I love to watch the Food Network. One of my favorite things to do is try out the recipes I see on the shows. Also, I enjoy reading and playing with my pug. My most favorite thing to do is spend time the Joe.
So that is us in a gummie bear bag. There will be plenty more from us to come. On our blog all writing from Joe will be in blue. All writing from Alissa will be in green. Anything we write together will be in black. We hope you will keep coming back to our blog to read about our adventures.
